Singapore, 29 February 2012 – A total of 24 consumer products and services, out of over 200 nominees, emerged winners in various categories at the AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards 2011/12.
Over 150,000 readers’ votes were cast from October to December 2011 to pick the winners, a 30 per cent increase in votes from last year's Awards.
The categories of Best Chinese Restaurant, Best Private School and Best Wellness Provider attracted the most number of votes.
The Awards have been enhanced with new or revamped categories to reflect the growing diversity of choices for consumers in the market.
Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, President of the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) and Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC, was the Guest of Honour at the Awards this evening.
Congratulating the winners, Mr Adrian Tay, Editor of AsiaOne, said: “They have every reason to be proud of their performance as this year's AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards saw stiffer competition due to the increased number of votes.
He added: “Our readers are not easily swayed by fancy advertising or gimmicks. So, coming in tops in the Awards is indeed an achievement.”
The Awards also provided a chance for AsiaOne to connect with trade partners and helped to strengthen their online presence, said Mr Tay.
AsiaOne was partnered by Platinum Sponsor, DirectAsia.com, and Gold Sponsor, Fuji Xerox Singapore, in the event.
On why his company chose to support the AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards, Mr Simon Birch, Chief Executive of DirectAsia.com, said: “AsiaOne is known to be very responsive to consumers, and it is committed to bringing information and entertainment to people in the way and at the time that they want it. Likewise, with DirectAsia.com, a radical new brand is helping to shake up the insurance industry in Singapore by giving more power to the consumer.”
Mr Bert Wong, Senior Managing Director, Fuji Xerox Singapore, said: "Brand recognition and market leadership are two of the critical success factors to winning the AsiaOne People's Choice Awards. As a leader in the Document Management space, Fuji Xerox is extremely honoured to be a part of this highly prestigious and successful event. We congratulate all of tonight’s winners."
About 160 guests were treated to a selection of appetisers, mains, desserts, wines and juices from Kuriya Dining, Tung Lok, Carousel of Royal Plaza on Scotts, Caveau and F&N Fruit Tree Fresh.
Into its fourth year, the AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards is a testament to the popularity and acceptance of the nominated brand names and products by the website's audience.
