Launched in 1991, DEMO is the global launchpad for emerging technologies and is held twice a year in the United States. It comprises conferences, pitches and networking sessions for a specially invited group of companies to launch their products for the first time to an audience made up of angel investors, venture capitalists, corporate developers and acquirers, government agencies, universities and research institutes.
Singapore is the second country in Asia to host a DEMO event after China. Sphere Exhibits is the organiser of DEMO Asia, along with DEMO's existing co-producers - IDG Enterprise and strategic partner VentureBeat, a portal that reports the latest news, trends and developments on innovation and technology. It is also co-organised by Singapore agencies such as Infocomm Development Authority, Media Development Authority, National Research Fund, and SPRING Singapore.
This event is supported and sponsored by companies such as Microsoft BizSpark, Global Brain, Kyosei Ventures, Amazon Web Services, Singtel Innov8, Google, Transpacific IP, TM Research & Development and Ernst & Young; as well as Singapore agencies such as Infocomm Development Authority, Media Development Authority, National Research Fund, and SPRING Singapore.
Mr Chua Wee Phong, Executive Director, Sphere Exhibits said: “The calibre of the speakers is a testament to the consistent track record of the DEMO brand name. DEMO Asia is not just Asia-centric; it has a global reach that will attract start-ups, investors, and MNCs alike that are keen to cultivate the potential in this exciting growth region. We look forward to discovering new and progressive innovations that will further contribute to the success of DEMO Asia in many years to come.”
Mr Neal Silverman, Senior Vice President said: “We are proud to be partnering with Sphere Exhibits to establish DEMO in Singapore. When looking for a partner in the region, Sphere Exhibits was our number one choice. DEMO Asia is now well positioned to showcase innovative products from around the world in Southeast Asia.”
Produced by IDG Enterprise in conjunction with VentureBeat, the DEMO conferences in the United States and China focus on emerging technologies and new product innovations, which are hand selected from across the spectrum of the technology marketplace. The DEMO conferences have earned their reputation for consistently identifying tomorrow's cutting-edge technologies, and have served as launchpad events for companies such as Palm, E*Trade, Salesforce, Webex, Tivo and VMware, helping them to secure venture funding, establish critical business relationships, and influence early adopters.
The DEMO Scholarship Partner Program, subsidised by corporate sponsorships, offers multiple scholarship opportunities to ensure that deserving entrepreneurs receive the opportunity to introduce cutting edge technology products at DEMO that might have otherwise gone undiscovered.
