Singapore, 8 September 2011 – Franchising & Licensing Asia 2011 (FLAsia 2011), the international trade event for franchising and licensing in Asia, opened today at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands. The trade fair will be held till 10 September.
BizLink Exhibition Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), has been in partnership with the Franchising and Licensing Association of Singapore (FLA) for six years to jointly organise this event.
Minister of State for Trade and Industry Mr Teo Ser Luck, who is also the Minister in charge of entrepreneurship, was the Guest-of-Honour at this morning’s opening ceremony.
FLAsia 2011 is the most successful franchise show in the region, attracting local and overseas company owners as well as budding entrepreneurs. They can network and explore business opportunities with prospective business partners and investors on franchising and licensing deals. Last year’s event attracted more than 9,000 visitors from 39 countries.
This year’s event attracted more than 60 international franchises and brands from South Korea, USA and Hong Kong, covering diverse industries such as adult education, childcare services, food & beverages and health & fitness. There are also 120 brands from Singapore taking part and they include household names such as Chewy Junior and Fig & Olive.
A list of participating exhibitors can be found in Appendix 1.
Trade visitors to FLAsia 2011 can look forward to learning about new business ventures at the South Korean country pavilion, which showcases popular food & beverage businesses such as Kkongdon Korean BBQ and Caffe Bene.
The Franchise & Retail Technology Zone in FLAsia 2011 this year also brings together solutions providers who play an important role in supporting the growth and start-ups of the franchising and licensing industry. These include related business support services such as technology firms, legal advisors, investors and financiers and consultancy companies.
There are hot-match sessions where exhibitors present their franchising brands or licensing properties to prospective trade visitors. International speakers and industry practitioners will also speak at a two-day seminar to share the best industry practices in business development, branding and marketing, as well as, safeguarding intellectual property.
This three-day event facilitates dialogues and exchanges among the exhibitors and participants. Here they can explore new business partnerships, build up their own competencies and adopt best industry practices from one another.
Hosted here in Singapore which is highly regarded as the strategic business and financial hub to the region, FLAsia 2011 is well-positioned to help companies exploit opportunities in the emerging markets in Asia.
Mr Chua Wee Phong, Executive Director of Sphere Exhibits, said: “FLAsia 2011 is the leading B2B franchising and licensing event for this region. Over the years, it has proven to be a trusted and effective platform for the exhibitors and trade visitors to seek out new business ventures and opportunities. Leveraging on Singapore’s reputation as the business and financial hub for Asia, Sphere Exhibits and FLA will work closely to help these companies garner greater exposure and connect to entrepreneurs and investors on a global scale.”
