SPH wins seven awards at 2011 PANPA Ad Awards

Singapore, 28 April 2011 – Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) bagged a total of seven honours at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association (PANPA) Awards. SPH won in three major categories and received "highly commended" citations in four.

As Southeast Asia's leading media group with print as its core business, SPH dominated the "Print" category, where it was either a winner or highly commended in all four sub-categories:

  • Best Single Advertisement
  • Best Print Campaign
  • Best Advertising Feature or Supplement
  • Best Advertising/Campaign Promoting Print in a Trade Publication, or as an In-House Ad


Fashion Season @ Orchard 2010 (FSO), a six-week fashion extravaganza at Orchard Road which had a successful cross-media activation, including print, online and broadcast radio, was also highly commended under the Best Integrated Campaign in the "Integrated Solutions" category.

Mr Leslie Fong, Senior Executive Vice-President, Marketing Division of SPH, said: "SPH is pleased to have won in all of the print categories. It shows that our creative teams have what it takes to come up with advertisements and campaigns of international standards."

He added: "Besides our awards in the print categories, we are also delighted with our success in the Integrated Solutions category. Fashion Season @ Orchard is just one of many examples of cross-media campaigns that SPH has successfully implemented. These integrated campaigns make use of the various multimedia platforms owned by SPH and provide unique solutions and greater value to our advertisers."

This year's Awards received a record number of 318 entries. It also recognised Executive Excellence in the newspaper publishing industry by giving out awards for Advertising Manager/Director of the Year, Classifieds Sales Person of the Year and Creative Services Professional of the Year, among others.

In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 in Chinese and 91.3FM in English.


Events and Outdoor Advertising

SPH’s events subsidiary Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s leading Digital Out-of-Home advertising company.


Properties

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. Its latest retail development, The Clementi Mall, started business operations in 2011. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
