Public voting for Singapore Entertainment Awards 2011 starts today

Singapore, 7 February 2011 --- Public voting for the "Most Popular" categories in the Singapore Entertainment Awards 2011 (SEA 2011) starts today.

From 7 February to 21 March 2011, fans can vote for their favourite idols and help them to win the "Most Popular" categories through SMS or online voting.

The SEA 2011 returns for the third time, following its success for the past two years. Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese media Lianhe Wanbao, Radio 100.3, omy.sg and UW (U-Weekly), the objective of the SEA is to support the Chinese entertainment industry that popularises the use of the Chinese language.

The awards recognise a spectrum of entertainment ranging from music, movies, TV, radio to concerts. Apart from honouring the best talents in Singapore and Asia, it also helps to promote the local and regional Chinese entertainment scene.

The qualifying period for award nomination is from 1 December 2009 to 31 December 2010. While the winners of the "Most Popular" categories are determined by public voting, the "Best" categories are judged by a panel of renowned professionals in the entertainment and media industry. This year's award promises to be more exciting with the introduction of the OCBC Titanium Star of the Year Award.

Winners of the SEA 2011 will be announced in March 2011, followed by the SEA 2011 celebration concert on 2 April 2011 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This is the first time the SEA 2011 Celebration Concert is held indoors at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Tickets to the celebration concert are now on sale. Those who purchase tickets to the concert stand to win a $500 cash prize in a lucky draw. They can log on to sgeawards.omy.sg/luckydraw, key in a 13-digit Transaction Number found on the SISTIC ticket, include their contact details to qualify for the lucky draw.

The closing date for the lucky draw is 3 April 2011 at midnight. The draw date is on 18 April 2011. The lucky winner, who will be notified by the organisers, must produce the winning SISTIC ticket stub to claim the $500 cash prize.
