Singapore Business Awards 2017 honour top Singapore business leaders

Singapore, 25 April 2017 – Mr Heinrich Jessen, Chairman of Jebsen & Jessen (SEA), has been named Businessman of the Year 2016 at this year’s Singapore Business Awards (SBA). 

Jebsen & Jessen's (SEA) business activities span manufacturing, engineering and distribution in seven core business units: Cable Technology, Ingredients, Life Sciences, Material Handling, Offshore, Packaging and Technology.  

Launched in 1985, the SBA has grown to be Singapore’s most prestigious business accolade. It is jointly organised by The Business Times, Singapore’s leading business daily; and DHL Express, the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry. This year marks the 32nd edition of SBA.

In addition to the Businessman of the Year award, the other awards in the SBA roll of honour are the Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year, Outstanding Overseas Executive of the Year Award and The Enterprise Award.

Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence  was the Guest-of-Honour at this evening's SBA 2017 presentation dinner held at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore.


Mr Wong Wei Kong, Chairman of the SBA organising committee and Editor of The Business Times, said: “The Singapore Business Awards honour business leaders who have demonstrated continued commitment to excellence and leadership in innovation, talent development and sustainability. Their achievements have been instrumental in shaping the narrative of the Asian economic success story, overcoming challenges and seizing new opportunities within and outside their respective industries. Citation:
 For its success in becoming one of the few major foreign players in the China tourism market with its aquarium, cable car and heritage projects, and for acquiring and turning around the iconic Singapore Flyer into a top visitor attraction.
