Singapore, 10 April 2017 – Starting Tuesday 11 April, Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) will launchsgsme.sg (www.sgsme.sg) – a bilingual portal built for Singapore’s SME owners and entrepreneurs.
Curating content from across the group’s English and Chinese publications and portals, sgsme.sg aims to be a news-driven repository of information and knowledge for local SMEs; a single site serving up a spread of SME-related news, analyses, features and interviews from The Business Times, The SME Magazine (distributed every two months with The Business Times), The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, zaobao.sg, Lianhe Wanbao and Shin Min Daily News.
SMEs contribute about half of Singapore’s GDP growth and two-thirds of employment, and will be a key engine of future growth and competitiveness. Hence, beyond the news, sgsme.sg aims to build a community of SMEs.
To that end, sgsme.sg presents Just Ask 敢敢问 as a unique platform for all in Singapore’s SME community to ask questions and offer responses on any topic of relevance to their businesses. Its goal is to connect SME owners and entrepreneurs to specialised service providers, government agencies, trade associations and all others with an interest in the SME scene.
Those with questions can expect the wisdom of the crowd to be supplemented with credible responses from a panel of experts across accounting, legal, banking, regulatory and other business fields. By linking those in need of knowledge to those who have it, Just Ask 敢敢问 aims to become a vibrant marketplace of ideas, insights and information on Singapore’s small businesses landscape. Questions and responses may be posted in English or Chinese, and will be reviewed for relevance and accuracy.
To keep up-to-date with the latest SME news, events and what’s happening on Just Ask 敢敢问, users can sign up forsgsme.sg Digest – a free email newsletter that will be sent out twice a week. Subscribers will also be the first to know about the launch of sgsme.sg’s SME Club – which will offer paid membership for privileges such as invitations to exclusive events.
Alternatively, users can follow sgsme.sg on Facebook (@sgsme.sg) and Twitter (@sgsmesg) for regular updates.
"SMEs constantly seek information and knowledge to get ahead, but are often pressed for time. With sgsme.sg, content relevant to local SMEs from seven English and Chinese editorial products, is pulled into a single website. We hope this gives SMEs easy access to policy announcements, business trends, interviews, expert commentaries, videos and other insights, that will help them grow their businesses," said sgsme.sg Editor (Chinese) Shen Yue of the Chinese Media Group Digital.
"sgsme.sg also aims to build an online community of local SMEs and the entrepreneurs behind them. The Just Ask discussion board will be a starting point for this, as business owners share knowledge, and hear from experts, service providers, policymakers and others. Such a community, we hope, will empower SMEs to collaborate and pursue bolder growth ambitions, to the benefit of the wider Singapore economy," said sgsme.sg Editor (English) Teh Shi Ning of The Business Times.
The portal’s fully responsive design allows for easy reading on all web browsers and devices (desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones).
