SINGAPORE, 1 December 2004 -
AsiaOne surfers and shopaholics can now check out the hottest buys and shopping tips in town, without leaving their homes or offices.
All they need do is log on to the new shopping channel, "Shopping Intelligence Network" (SIN - www.sin.asiaone.com), in Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH - www.sph.com.sg) AsiaOne portal (www.asiaone.com).
SIN is developed by Convertium Pte Ltd (www.convertium.com), a Singapore-based interactive content management company, in collaboration with SPH’s Internet Business unit.
SIN stands for "Shopping" (Singaporeans’ favourite guilty pleasure), "Intelligence" (shopping content that is smart and practical), and "Network" (content that is aggregated from a wide variety of sources). It is a unique website that adds value to the shopping experience in Singapore.
It delivers shopping tips from "Shopping Agents" - shopaholics who live to shop and find good buys for other shoppers. These Shopping Agents will comb Singapore for interesting shopping experiences and deals.
In addition, SIN susses out the best of SPH’s shopping-related content from its stable of publications, which include The Straits Times and The New Paper, and magazines like Her World, Simply Her, Female and Seventeen.
AsiaOne surfers are also invited to contribute their own shopping scoops and experiences on SIN’s public forums. Every month, the best scoop from the public wins a prize.
SIN was conceptualised by Convertium, which will also operate and manage the channel on behalf of SPH. Commercial matters will be handled by SPH Internet Business’ Sales & Marketing team.
Content on SIN is updated regularly. Over time, SIN will expand its content and coverage to regional cities that are favourite shopping destinations for Singaporeans.
SIN is primarily targeted at shoppers in Singapore who are female, aged 18-35, and are professionals, managers, executives or business people (PMEBs). Tourists visiting Singapore will also find SIN a beneficial first stop before their shopping expedition.
As a channel within the AsiaOne portal, SIN benefits from AsiaOne’s 5.5 million monthly page views and 400,000 unique visitors. This makes SIN a potentially powerful advertising and marketing platform for shopping centres, merchants and companies targeting shoppers in Singapore.
Advertisers and commercial partners will be able to customise their own presence on SIN. From banner advertising, store fronts to microsites and online marketing campaigns, SIN provides a flexible platform that is unique in Singapore.
Said Mr Dicky Goh, Vice-President of SPH Internet Business: "This additional dimension on our internet platform will enhance the shopping experience in Singapore, where shopping is a national past-time. Over time, we want to make SIN a ’must visit’ site, whether you are a shopper looking for ideas and information on what is hip and happening or a marketer looking for targeted audiences for your products and services."
Mr Gerard M. C. Lim, Managing Director of Convertium, said: "The Shopping Intelligence Network is in line with SPH’s vision for AsiaOne - a portal that serves SPH’s online audience with the best of SPH news and lifestyle content. In addition to serving the public, SIN is developed to deliver good commercial returns for SPH. As a partner, Convertium is committed to working with the SPH Internet Business team to entrench SPH as the premium internet content provider in Singapore and the region."
